During the return journey of a huge space freighter on a routine commercial mission, its passengers, five men and two women plunged into hibernation, are awakened from their lethargy ten months earlier than expected by Mother, the onboard computer. The latter has indeed picked up sound signals in the interplanetary silence, and according to a certain clause of the navigation contract, the astronauts are in charge of prospecting any indication of life in space.
